This also happened to be my first book by this author, but it certainly won't be my last and I would definitely recommend it to others.Cam DeSantis’ life is a hot, steaming pile. There was also a whole cast of minor characters who also added to this story including Cams best friend Amber, and Cal's nephew Sam. Yet they worked well together and I especially loved all the stages they went through, before finally falling in love. They were both really lovable characters and very different. Which I especially enjoyed, apart from the somewhat over use of the word 'whatevs' but then I do personally really dislike that word!Īs for the two main characters Cam and Calvin. As did the story being told solely from Cams POV. Which normally I'm not a huge fan off, but in this instance it worked perfectly. The story itself was sweet, had a few hot moments but above all was a real slow burn. That sucked me in from the very start, and kept me engaged, entertained and completely hooked throughout. Sam is a silent but importan character who shows Camilla's passion for kids and Calvin slowly opening up.įootball is not that emphasized in the book but there are some scenes connected to the sport.Ĭamilla's pining gets a bit much by the end, and there are some inaccuracies at the ending, but I liked it nontheless. He's sworn off relationships and struggles to connect with his nephew.

When she gets a chance at a teaching job with a problematic client, she did not count on meeting football star, Calvin Shaw.Ĭalvin is mean, a little cruel and insanely insufferable but Camilla needs the money and Sam, the boy she teached is lovely and needs her help.Īnd through months of living together, Camilla manages to halp both Shaw men to come put of their shells. She lost her job, most of her friends, the man she thought was the love of hee life and most of her dignity. After the death of her husband, she fights for three years to clear her name in the investigation into his husband's embezzalment. I could compare this to Mariana Zapata's famous slow burn, The Wall of Winnipeg and me.Ĭamilla lost everything.
